In an effort to improve social science and engineering research, education, and capacity building, the administration of El-Amin University in Minna, Niger State, has started strategic talks with the University of West Bohemia. The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the university’s Senate building.
Speaking to journalists subsequently, Professor Zahorik, a renowned expert in African studies, indicated that his objective is to build meaningful collaboration with El-Amin University, Minna, to exchange ideas across disciplines and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
According to Professor Zahorik, El-Amin is the only university in the country’s north to work with the University of West Bohemia, while his university has already inked Memorandums of Understanding with universities in Abuja, Ibadan, and Lagos.
According to him, the purpose of the conference was to give El-Amin University options in areas like research projects, funding, and capacity-building projects. He went on to say that the conversations would open the door to more cooperation, particularly when it comes to funding applications. According to Zahorik, the first area of focus is academic mobility, enabling both universities to meet regularly to explore prospective developments across multiple disciplines, including social sciences and engineering degrees.
This was one of the first international partnerships at El-Amin University in Minna, according to Dr. E.J. Zwanbin, vice-chancellor. He emphasized that the collaboration with the University of West Bohemia would improve El-Amin University’s standing internationally, create funding opportunities, and allow staff to receive training overseas to gain innovative insights into student growth and information management.
“We hope to see the results within the coming months, including sending our students abroad to learn,” Dr. Zwanbin said.
In describing the discussion’s goals, the vice chancellor disclosed that future staff capacity building, training, and research would be the main priorities, along with planning collaborative conferences and certifications. He noted that these would enable El-Amin University students to obtain foreign university certificates, among other benefits.
